So what’s all the fuss about?

When I walked into Better Body Group exactly 2 years ago today to start my first day of work, I thought to myself, “wow this is busy, I wonder what all the fuss is about?”

At first it just seemed like a pleasant and relaxed place to be, spend some time working out with a trainer and burning off the excess alcohol and food binge from over the weekend. As time went on I realised that BBG is so much more than just a gym.

BBG is a hub for people to learn, experiment, push their limits and have a coffee, not to mention have a laugh about things that have happened on the school run and complain about how much their glutes ache after a deadly session with their trainer. It is a home where everyone accepts you exactly how you are and wishes to change you in no other way than the goals you are working towards. More importantly BBG is a community and one that I am proud to be a part of.

Don’t worry, this isn’t my leaving speech (all over again) as I intend to stay for a long while. I just wanted to share with everyone, (and following on from Lauren’s beautiful departure speech) both those who train at BBG and those who are yet to discover what it is like to be a trainer there.

I have been lucky enough to be part of the green team on this year’s shape off (Go Green team, Green team to win!) and I have been overwhelmed by the support that each and every one of the team has given to one another. This is what I mean by community, team members offering to share their sessions, encouraging people to drink that one last green tea of the day and giving support across all channels.

I have been to many classes, personal training sessions and gyms in my life (market research as I like to call it) and community is the one thing that every one I have visited has lacked. Okay, we may not have the steam room, the luxurious shampoos in the showers or the swanky cafe but each and every trainer is passionate about working their clients to the best of their abilities and watching them achieve their goals.

We are the shoulder to cry on, your counselor, your financial advisor, your life coach and wedding planner. Nutritionist, Pharmacist, doctor, trainer but most importantly we are your friend and we love seeing you rush through the door shouting “Yes, yes I know I’m late again” before quickly throwing yourself over a foam roller.

So yes, we may agree you train you on a Monday at 6am and yes, we certainly do regret it when the alarm goes off at 4.30 in the morning but do you know what? Every one of you make it worth our while, so I want to thank you all for that, for making early mornings, late evening and after lunch slumps that little bit easier.

If you don’t already train with us, come down and be part of our BBG community, there is something for everyone and I can guarantee you that once you’re in, you’re here to stay.
